Diogo Kalil

Diogo Kalil was born in Salvador, Brazil in 1979. In 1999 he co-directed a short film that earned him his first award. After two years at college, he decided to move to São Paulo, where he worked as a designer/animator for award-winning web agency Zentropy PartnersThunder House, and for Trip magazine. Back in Salvador in 2001, Diogo launched Bossa, a major online illustration magazine. At the same time, he began experimenting with video and animation, making videos for projection as part of dance performances and plays.

In 2003, back in São Paulo, he started working with animation for advertising and broadcast, collaborating with MTV and Lobo, where, in 2004, he became part of the team, developing prize-winning projects for clients such as Diesel, Budweiser, Volkswagen, Nike and Coca-Cola.

In 2007, Diogo moved to Los Angeles, working for studios such as Logan, Belief, Psyop and Blacklist for clients including Nike, Unicef, Apple and Lucas Arts. He also directed an animation for the Sundance Film Festival winning documentary, American Teen At the end of 2008, after a road trip across the US, he arrived in New York, where he now lives.
