Miri Shapiro

In her work Miri is motivated by personal stories in the shadow of events; individual versus her/his society, religion or political reality. For her second short film “4 Kilometers” she was awarded a grant by National-Geographic "All Roads Film Project". The film later won 7 other awards in international film festivals, among which was the Asian New Force Grand Prize at the Hong Kong Independent Short Film Awards (ifva). Her films were screened in over 50 international film festivals across the world.

Graduating the London Film School MA Program in the UK, Miri moved back to Israel where she received a grant for Excellence in art by the Israeli ministry of immigration. She participated in the 2009 Berlinale Talent Campus of the Berlin Film Festival and was then accepted to the ‘Tel Aviv - Los Angeles Workshops’ where she presented her synopsis for a feature script. She published a number of articles in various magazines in Israel and in 2010 started working in the Israeli Int’l Women’s Film festival as the Content Director of the Israeli program. Currently Miri is in advanced stages of development of her first full length feature-script.
