Stanley Xu

From a small little island named Singapore,

Stanley Xu Ruiyang is an independent filmmaker who enjoys making simplistic films that explores complex human emotions. He draw inspirations mainly from his observations of daily lives. He is also an avid cinephile, watching films of different varieties, such as films from the Taiwan New Cinema, French New Wave and Italian Neorealism movements. Aside from filmmaking, he also spends his free time doing photography.

His major influences comes from filmmakers such as Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Yasujiro Ozu and Robert Bresson, and also photographers like Rinko Kawauchi and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
