Personal Profile

Will Thomas Freeman

I made my first films at the age of 7 with a VHS camera using my toys as actors. I soon began persuading my friends to act for me and by my early teens I realised that filmmaking was the only career I wanted. Throughout this period I started watching and studying films and became immersed in the language of cinema. By the time I left school at 18 I had 6 A Grade A Levels, a place at a top university, a feature film and several awards. Deciding that making films was more important to me than a History Degree I started my own photography and video production company and worked on commercial promotional videos for brands such as Smirnoff Vodka and Alpha Romeo. During this time I continued to make short films and in 2012 won scholarships to both BrightonFilm School and Prague Film School. I decided to go to Prague where I have have shot three more short films and still live. I have worked freelance as a cinematographer on other directors’ projects and for various small production companies.
