Jimmy Hendrickx

Works and lives currently in Antwerp, Bangkok and Jakarta.

(Antwerp 1979/ Belgium) After completing his master in 3d Multimedia, Jimmy focused mainly on the applied aspects of video art. Up until 2007 he was a freelance producer for promotional shorts. In 2007 Jimmy became a lecturer at School of Arts Ghent, where he still teaches video-art, filmhistory and mixed-media techniques. Further he is active as a guest lecturer on several other art-academies around Asia.

Today he purposefully focuses on cinema and video-art. Most of his work can be categorized as experimental cinema or documentary. Trough his work and experiments we frequently notice bounds with Belgian art-traditions as Surrealism and Magical Realism.

Together with Kristian van der Heyden he founded Port Actif, an international video-organisation (2011). In line with this he launched ‘The Reconstruction of Cinema concept’ where in he brings artists of different media together whose work is an adaption on the language of cinema.
