Personal Profile

Sarah Barker

Storytelling and the complexities of human relationships has fascinated me since I was a girl. As a child, I attempted to work this gestalt out in poetry and short fiction and later studied creative writing and theatre in college, still with a profound curiosity about interpersonal relationships and the unique stories we all have to tell.

At 30, compelled by more than just a little whimsy, I went off to film school to further explore these relationships. I hold an M.F.A in Film Production from Chapman University’s prestigious Dodge College of Film & Television and worked in the television industry for both Technicolor and HBO for many years as an ADR & Dialogue Editor. I am also a freelance filmmaker/documentarian and producer/writer/editor with RightAfterThis Broadcast Production & Creative and the principle of New Pilgrim Productions, the narrative branch of RightAfterThis.

Currently I'm in production with a documentary web-series, You Are Here TV. Moving into the foray of documentary filmmaking has been profoundly gratifying for me.

I have taught radio, television and film production for over 10 years and
served as the head of the Media Communications Department with Genesee Community College in Western, New York. Currently I teach Television & Radio Production with Pasadena City College in Pasadena, California.
