Jade Carmen – Director / Writer/ Producer

For a film director, Jade Carmen had an unorthodox start, as a professional musician (for 15 years). A twist of fate meant a change of career when he broke three fingers, and subsequently moved into the moving picture world. What followed was a highly successful, 11-year career behind the camera as a Camera Operator, Director Of Photography and Director. His credits extend across film and television, from “ Ali G,” “Bruno,” “Dennis Pennis” to documentary films on AIDS and long-form features for the Natural History, Discovery and National Geographic channels.

A keen scriptwriter, Jade first screenplay “Piggy Bank”. was short– listed for the last four of the British Short Film Festival, while Jade subsequently received a prestigious Kodak Film scholarship. The short was repeatedly broadcast on Channel 4 and arguably launched the film careers of its two leading actors Paul Kaye and Hamish Clark. Jade’s next short. “

Mr Firecul ” (starring David Ginola) was premiered at the Odeon Covent Garden and was broadcast numerous times on BBC2 during 2005 and 2007. Jade is currently writing two further feature film screenplays; a tense, psychological drama "Sleep In The Middle” and a comedy thriller “Eating Dust ."
