Afarin Eghbal

Iranian-born, Afarin moved to London as a baby with her family following the 1979 Iranian Revolution. She graduated with First-Class Honours in BA Graphic Design from the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s College in 2007. Since then, she accumulated various awards and prizes for works she has directed, including the well-reputed Kodak Commercial Awards, where in 2007 she won three prizes including ‘Overall Winner’. In 2006, she won paid-internship at Framestore-CFC, and in 2009 won the AHRC Scholarship. Afarin recently graduated with MA Animation-Direction from the National Film & Television School, with her graduation film, ‘Abuelas’. She aims to continue to bridge the gap between animation and documentary, using mixed-media techniques to explore complex social and political issues through non-polemic narrative.
