Personal Profile

Jesse Miksic

I am an independent filmmaker focused on short film, video essay, and music video formats, but interested in eventually moving into feature-length filmmaking. I studied philosophy and graphic design at American University, and went on to earn an MA in Media Studies from New School for General Studies (now New School for Public Engagement).

My interests span all aspects of creative production -- writing, drawing, design, photography, and criticism. I use the infinitely malleable medium of motion pictures (HD video in particular) to bring as many of these together in as many ways as possible.

I love film, fiction, and art that's very cerebral (Borges, Nabakov, Mark Danielewski, Scott Mutter, David Lynch) and intensely sensory (Wong Kar Wai, Terrence Malick, e. e. cummings). I try to be as adventurous and engaged in my consumption as I am in my creation. I would love to hear from kindred spirits.
