Personal Profile

Virginie Gourmel

Virginie Gourmel was born in the early 1970s in Lyon, capital of fine food and sausage (Lyon sausage that is). After a happy childhood (she modelled as a child for the LB ice cream company) and an equally happy adolescence, for a long time Virginie considered becoming an Olympic horseball champion. Because she is pretty single-minded and adores Marilyn Monroe, she enrolled to study cinema at the INSAS, in Brussels.

From the directing department, she soon moved to the photography one. After around eight years working as a camera assistant (L'Iceberg, Cages, En territoire Indien, Ta soeur, Nord Plage,...), she moved on to more serious things in 2005 and directed her first short film "Aïe!". And she's not going to stop there. Since then, she has directed her second short film « Stagman» early 2007. And she is currently preparing her first feature film.
