Personal Profile

John Ledbetter

John Ledbetter appreciates both viewing and making pictures. Born in 1979, he grew up in a North Dallas suburb where he from the age of nine made animated shorts with a super 8mm camera purchased from a one-eyed salesman.

Making animations as a youngster instilled in him a one-man-film-crew sensibility. In the fall of 2000 John relocated to California to attend CalArts mastering in photography, but after 2 years, dropped out and moved to Hollywood to make something of himself.

Over the years John has worked many areas of production. John will replace one of his eyes with a camera just as soon as that technology is made available. John draws inspiration from gravity, light, atmosphere, challenges and their creative solutions.

In the future John will continue to make works that challenge routine interests.
