Marina Petri

Marina has studied Art (painting) in the National School of Art in Athens and she has also attended classes on Sculpture. She did her post-graduate studies in the Royal College of Art in London by means of an I.K.Y.(Foundation of Public Scholarships) scholarship.

She works on cinema, theatre, illustration, folklore and radio projects, she writes poetry and organizes cultural events. She has published five poetry collections. She has been awarded in a poetry contest of the Union for the International Disarmament and Peace. Her poems have been translated in German.

She has published an adaptation of the Mykonian tale “Aleofaissa” as well as the tales “Kali Kalo”, “The coat” and “The shadow”. At the moment she is preparing the publication of four other Greek popular story-tales. Part of her artwork is featured on UNICEF postcards. Some of her paintings belong in most important art collections in Greece and abroad.

She leads her life living alternatively in Berlin, Pireas, Mykonos and London.

In Mykonos she has created the art-gallery “Mono ena” as well as the Cultural Companies “Greek Dramatic Tale” and “Mykonian Light”. She organized the Cultural Festival for the Millenium of the Mykonian Municipality. She also gives art lessons to children groups in Mykonos.
