Rosario

Rosario sees her days go as caregiver for her ill husband. Silently, she bears the burden of a marriage that has dried up. No one in her family knows how she feels; everyone keeps up appearances. But, a struggle has begun between her duty and her own desires.

Film notes

“Rosario” was born from my personal interest in those stories which are kept hidden in the silence of their protagonists. In “Rosario,” we explore the main character and the reasons that make her act in a certain way, reasons that are not apparent to the rest of the characters.

I think it is important to explore the inner conflict experienced by an individual whose actions are considered noble by society, even if they are also detrimental to the individual’s own happiness. It is often taken for granted that a person has the moral obligation to care for a relative when they become ill or disabled. What is seldom noted is the carer’s legitimate right to want a different life.

Facing the fear of social stigma and one’s own guilt, a conflict can be suffered in the deepest silence.
