Short Film Profile

Cinema: Future/Past

Special effects briefly transform a home video into a silent comedy short akin to the single-reelers from cinema’s past.

Film notes

An experimental film about the interplay between cinema’s past and future.

An allusion to cinema’s present marked by an ease of producing and viewing films, where the next short to capture the world’s imagination is more likely to come out of an unknown person’s private moments rather than from a movie studio. However, the increasing visual overload and diminishing attention spans of the present time will ensure that this adulation, unlike that in the silent era, will last for only a brief moment. As the static at the end of this experimental film shows, this moment will quickly recede to oblivion while we seek the next cinematic thrill.
