Como São Cruéis os Pássaros da Alvorada

A young man lives his daily routine. He goes from one place to the other, but it feels like he is not moving. He doesn't seem to be there at all. All experiences are piling up. He can't take it anymore.

Film notes

This film is, at the same time, personal (being based upon experiences I had) and impersonal (as it approaches the subject in a very distant manner). The lethargic state of the character is very real, but we merely stand on the surface of his experiences, trying (just as the character) to feel something and to find meaning in the aesthetic emptiness of the futile lifestyle of the youth that surrounds him. It is an unfunny fragmented comedy about stagnation.

The challenge of telling a story with a character that barely moves and a sensation of going in circles was really exciting. And I think we were able to capture both the pain and the ridiculousness of this pain in the film. The movie was made with a lot of love, a lot of talents (some great borrowed equipment) and absolutely no money. So I hope it finds you in a good mood.

All the best,
Joao Toledo
