Short Film Profile

Time Travel Boyfriends

In a fantasy love letter to some of her favourite men in history, a woman remembers moments of her love-affairs with famous historical figures including Jim Morrison, Orson Welles, British sportsman Charles Fry, engineer Brunel and Marlon Brando.

Film notes

The ten minute short film was shot on 35mm on location in the UK using an old film camera which belonged to the Director of Photography and it made a noise like a coffee grinder when it rolled... this didn't matter at all as we shot the film without sound to an existing soundtrack. Filming without sound gave a welcome kind of timeless feel which we hoped to capture in the work. The film is an exploration of the concept of love and loss and the lure of the unattainable... but especially the freedom of fantasy. Time Travel Boyfriends started life as an art show and a book that had several exhibitions in London at galleries. After that I developed it for film.
