Short Film Profile

Dwarves run free, with castles in the air and loving gestures. An existence lived in another place, another world, one step away from eternity.

Film notes

In "America," the boundaries between fiction and documentary are very narrow and almost interchangeable.
The film plays on this ambiguity, as well as on the ambivalences of the narrative plot: sometimes the images emphasise the story, whereas they sometimes turn away from it. Ambiguities and dualities become particularly important in the history of Pino America, a surreal character who is perpetually torn between dreams and reality.
This story is enclosed in a "short"; this is not only for technical reasons but also for stylistic choice which reflects a metaphor for life itself: short and intense, but also unpredictable and sudden, like death. It is this life that Pino America provokes with Viking horns and erotic foul language. It is this death that allows him to get on with life, and to return, with great humanity, earthly dignity to those who will never be able to talk about it.
