On Valentine’s day, a hopeless romantic and a cynic realise that love is right in front of them.

Film notes

Director's Statement

The idea for Valentine originally came from a writing session with a friend of mine. We were supposed to be writing a script together but instead I found myself in a 10-hour psychiatry session in which she discussed at length her feelings and confusion about her current boyfriend.

This made me want to explore how we deal with our feelings – some people can’t bring themselves to voice them, especially to the person in question, and others find comfort in analysing and discussing every minute detail until their true feelings become unclear and muddled.

As soon as my motor-mouth friend left I found myself writing a new script that went on to become Valentine.
