Short Film Profile

Sleep affects every moment of our daily and nightly life; and yet, half the time we aren’t aware of this.

Film notes

SLEEP is a short film which observes the everyday, humdrum routine of a young girl coupled with a scientific, dry and factual narration regarding aspects of sleep.

Sleep to me is one of the most intriguing processes which humans go through, and yet ironically, in film and literature I find it to be somewhat neglected. I wanted to couple my own observations and interesting facts I had sourced with a realistic and subtle presentation which, like the mysteries still prevalent in our knowledge of sleep today, also has its own element of secrecy. In the same way we can be detached from ourselves and our conscience during sleep, the film itself has an air of disengagement.
