Short Film Profile

Sevginin Ritmi

Bandirma is the district of Balikesir with the population of 120.000. Despite the minority of population, it is developed as it leaves out most of the cities in our country and both in the side of social life and cultural activities, and economical or employment opportunities it is an extremely developed district. But there is also a hidden side of this portrait; Cinarli Neighborhood. Literacy is very low in the street and many children can’t continue their education after they hardly even completed their primary school education. Those who could be able to do this, work somewhere outside after their school-time or carry on their school-life under hard or even impossible conditions. In this context, in 2009, Balikesir University; the faculty of Bandirma Economic and Administrative Sciences Community Volunteers Club is coming through the streets for a project concept. Their aim is only to paint a primary school in those streets. That’s right; the school is Ataturk Primary School. While the project is in process actively, that the children’s situations and impossibilities are stuck in minds. Right here the youth of Community Volunteers say, “we’re not here to criticize but to change it all”. And now that they start thinking of what can be done at all. Right the “Rhythm of Love” (Sevginin Ritmi) is born. In which the main target is bringing those gifted kids to the school desks, pulling them from streets. The university students, as volunteers, waiving from their social life and university courses, they both develop children’s self-confidence and make them continue their education in their school, contributing the education over their gifted skills.
