Short Film Profile

I Still Adore You

Moody blues, desperate blackmail and violent jealousy impact a young mechanic's love affair with his corrupt boss' beautiful wife.

Film notes

In November of 2011, my partner at Ostrich Colony Films, Christopher Kyle Kelley, and I were hired by blues band Rumble King to create a video project. They didn't want "just a music video." They wanted something unique, something beautiful, something that encompassed their retro vibe and their modern day edge.

A month later, just before Christmas, we began casting an ambitious 25 minute short film inspired by Rumble King's uptempo song about lost love, "I Still Adore You." Our goal was to incorporate the song and the band members into a compelling, dramatic narrative. By January, we were shooting.

It was a whirlwind production. The actors dove into their roles, finding subtle nuances and heartbreaking moments in the long spaces between the dialogue. The DP, Andrew Hwang, and his team captured achingly beautiful shots. Cindy Gray, our production designer, and her team worked their magic on the set design - including transforming a 90 year old winery into an atmospheric juke joint. It was a team effort and the outcome was nothing short of a miracle.
