Short Film Profile

It's All Luck

A grandfather encapsulates the ups and downs of being a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Film notes

The emotional reflections are captured in the face and persona of the subject being interviewed, with vintage photography enhances the narrative.

Edited together from a spontaneous, and unexpected, conversation with my grandfather Morris Goldman via hidden cameras.

Spurred by the mention of a Memorial Day celebration at his Florida condo clubhouse, my grandfather launched into one war memory after another—something I’ve unsuccessfully tried to capture with a formal video interview. Luckily, my camera was handy by the pool and my laptop was handy for the second part of the conversation back in his living room.
