Short Film Profile

Cab 57

On a slow afternoon at work, immigrant cab driver Azad is reminded by his Russian colleague about the vast sum of money he owes him. At the same time, David, a Los Angeles native on the edge of despair, makes a glaring decision that will affect the lives of everyone around him. Azad soon finds himself amidst an electric urban quagmire, where the city is a maze, family ties are on a shoestring, and fate is an uncertain bet. The decisions and actions of those on screen will determine everything, and a mysterious girl will make an unlikely appearance. It's not another night. It's a mind bending night. What will it amount to for the players involved?

Film notes

Los Angeles is one of the world's most ethnically and culturally diverse cities, and one of the world's fiercest entertainment capitals. There are millions of stories that can be told about it. With Cab 57 I tried to portray the daily life of an Angelenos on the ground floor of the streets, without misrepresentation or lack of realism. I tried to engage the large Los Angeles community through a story of immigration and loss in the modern world. The production came together by a collaboration of talented filmmakers who committed themselves to honesty and openness in their work, and believed in the story.
