Short Film Profile

Reiði Mynd

An idyllic Sunday in a small town by the remotest Northern shore of Iceland turns disastrous as all the men in town sit down to eat soup cooked by all their women, and in all the soups they find flies. Violence ensues, spreads and escalates until the world is brought to an end.

Film notes

The film is based on a 1962 screenplay by Eugene Ionesco, originally filmed as part of the project Les sept peches capitaux. With a curious mixed method of documentary and fiction, the director transported the absurdist Mediterranean comedy to the North-Atlantic, searching for a possible hidden community in between.
