Short Film Profile

The man with the most boring job in the world is desperate to break the monotony - but excitement comes in a form he'd never have wanted.

Film notes

In making Sucker, my first aim was to create something funny & unique.

I wanted to make a film that had some surprises; that was ironic, but could also grab hold of its audience, even have a physical effect on them.

And underneath all that, I was aiming to create an unusual look at preconception, at prejudice and its dangers; what's unusual is Sucker's black-hearted sense of fun, the gallows humour it brings to the subject.

Sucker is set in Spain, with Spanish dialogue, but was shot in deepest backstreet Derby. Made on cash budget totalling just £1500, with an all-English cast, Sucker has - incredibly - met with success at Spanish festivals.
