Film notes

( unsent letter from the director to her grandmother_main character at the documentary )

Dear Angela,

Sorry for not write you before…indeed, I am not sure you were wait a letter from me.
In these years I have never feel your absence , probably will be because I never met you…until I found you in these creepy photography.
It was a family portrait where only your face was missing . It had been carefully cut by my granfather, I guess, because of your separation. I couldn´t imagine that my gradpa was that kind of passional man….
Anyway, what I really attract my attention it was not only this cut, otherwise the expression of my father´s face in this photography. He was a 12 years old boy on feet beside you. A tall and happy young man with a clean and innocent view…a expresión completly unknown by me.
I search all around clues to reach you. Every discover it begins to reveal why my father has lost that beautiful smile. At the end, you were closer than I could imagine. I just hended time…
You have enter stealthy inside me, throught you let behind. You are in the way that now I see my family; in the strenght and the weakness that characterize us. I can find you in my dreams and in my failures. Woman that I am is a part of what you were in some point And overalls, you will live forever as a dull pain that I inherit from my father.
I begin this story trying to draw your face, and what I have at the end is an impossible portrait that I can´t finísh.
