Jonas Geirnaert

Belgian animator Jonas Geirnaert (1982) studied animation at the Hogeschool Gent – KASK. His first short film, "The All-American Alphabet" (2002), a fierce criticism on US imperialism, was very well received at numerous international film festivals. His graduation project "FLATLIFE" (2004) was hardly completed when it was selected for the 57th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award for Short Film. Apart from filmmaker, Jonas is also an improv comedy player with the Belgian group 'The Lunatics' and theater comedy performer with 'Neveneffecten'. Nowadays, Jonas and the three other members of Neveneffecten are working for a Belgian TV production company and have completed their first fiction comedy TV-show of 8 episodes.
