Reza Farahmand was born in 1978 in the city of Birjand in Iran. He initially started with photography which he also held two exhibitions on different subjects. "Mentally retarded children" and the "Turkmen ethnic community". His first documented work is "My Home Street" in 2003. This is the subject of the street life of beggars. It won numerous awards from national film festivals. He was successful in earning the Best Mohmoud Celary Award for the film. Following this, for a two year period of time, he became a long project assistant of Celary.
