Michael Aloyan was born in Hollywood, California, to an Armenian family. From an early age, his father got Aloyan interested in Disney's animated classics and immediately he wanted to become an animator. Over the years, Aloyan shifted towards live action filmmaking. He started making films at the age of eight, with his dad's Super 8 camera. Gathering his neighborhood friends and relatives, Aloyan would make short films of all genres, including one where Aloyan himself (10 years old at the time) played Christopher Columbus. For his eleventh birthday, he got his own camera and soon after completed his first fully edited film, The Texas War for Independence. Since then, Aloyan has worked on many films, which have played in numerous film festivals across the globe, and garnered awards.
