Chiara Armentano was born in Bari in 1981.

In 1999 she started studying film theory, history and criticism at the University of Bologna, Film Studies Department, (D.A.M.S.), where she graduated in 2004 with a thesis entitled "David Lynch and the Postmodern Expressionismus".
In 2005 she was enrolled in the PhD program in Film Studies at the same University. Her dissertation was defended in 2008, regarding the "Postmodern Elements in American Horror Film: Cultural and Textual Forms of the Mutation (1968-1998)".

In 2009 Chiara started working in film production. She was the First Assistant Director for the short film "I Lavoratori del mare" (Workers of the Sea”).

On set she discovered her passion for filmmaking too. After that project she directed her first film, a short documentary about a small no-profit organization called "Le Macerie" (the Rubble) located in Molfetta, the town where she grow up. The documentary is called “Le Macerie- Baracche Ribelli (The Rubble)” and it was completed in May 2010.
In July she started studying filmmaking at USC (University of Southern California), where she directed "Wake" with her classmate Jason S. Filmore.

After "Wake" Chiara is convinced to pursue the directing career. In New York City, she is still studying filmmaking and editing in different schools (DFA, Edit Center). Her next project is a short-film called “Another Day”.
