By using this website, you agree to accept the terms and conditions on this page.
Short Film Central is a platform for filmmakers, companies and events to promote themselves and the short films they represent. Information about the short films, events, people and companies listed on this website can be added by the owners of those entities and by us. We moderate all added content to ensure that it meets our presentation guidelines, however while we do verify some information before displaying it, we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of all the information displayed. We will not be liable for any content which you may find offensive, indecent, harmful, defamatory, innacurate or deceptive, but we will consider modifying or removing any information where the user who added the infomation has misrepresented their relationship to the entity, or which has otherwise been published unlawfully or without proper authorization.
If you are involved in production, marketing, sales or exhibition of short films, you are welcome to use Short Film Central to promote yourself, your short films, your event or your company. To add a new profile or edit an existing profile, you must have the right to publish the information, and you warrant that the information is true and accurate. You agree to grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to display the information on this website and to exercise the copyright, publicity and database rights (but no other rights) you have in the information. We will seek your permission for any usage of your information or materials beyond this website, other than where your materials can freely be accessed from this site by other services such as search engines.
For quality control, all submitted content goes into an update queue and is usually displayed on the profile within 24 hours. We do not wish to censor any content, so when providing information, please consider that this website has a very broad audience. We reserve the right to withhold or remove any content for any reason, or to edit the information to meet our presentation guidelines.
To ensure that only valid awards and nominations are displayed on film profiles, we verify each award on the event's official website. You may be required to provide a link to a page on the event's official website which lists the award and we will only display awards which can be verified. We reserve the right not to display an award in cases such as where an 'award' is given to most or all of the films in a program. Similarly, a nomination will only be displayed if the event has specifically provided a list of nominated films selected from its larger program. An official selection is not considered to be an award or a nomination.
We offer a system for film owners who self-distribute their short films to take orders from our visitors directly from their film profiles. The online forms enable you to set the price of the products and postage, restrict sales to only certain countries if necessary, make each product available or unavailable, and change prices and availability at any time. When an order is complete, our fee is 10% of the total order amount, and the balance is credited to your account. You can set your prices and receive payments in your preferred currency.
To list a product for sale at Short Film Central, you must own all the necessary rights to sell the product and all contents therein, to customers in the countries you have indicated on the product profile. The details which you provide for each product must fully and accurately describe the actual products which you will send to customers. You must not list a product if it, or its content:
(a) encourages, promotes, facilitates or instructs others to engage in illegal activity,
(b) promotes hate, violence, racial intolerance, or the financial exploitation of a crime,
(c) is considered obscene, or
(d) infringes or violates any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction.
You must not list any product if the payment to us of our fee for its sale would be likely to cause us to violate any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation. We reserve the right to not activate, or to deactivate any product which does not meet these terms.
You can set different prices for licensing your products for private/non-commercial, public/commercial, or library/lending use. See the Licensing short film products section below for details of each licence type.
If any of your products becomes unavailable, or if you will be unable to fulfil orders for a period of time, you must use the product form to make the product unavailable for sale on Short Film Central during that period. If the territories into which are you licensed to sell a product change, you must immediately update the list of countries to which you are licensed to sell the product. You can change the availability of your products at any time.
You can create sales accounts in your own name or your company name, depending on who owns the sales rights. You must provide, and keep current, your email address, postal address and phone number in your personal or company profile.
When your products are ordered, you are notified by email and asked to fulfil the order within 3 days. The order details are available in the Sales section of your user menu, where you can download the customer's receipt and mark the order as Sent. You must print the receipt and send it to the customer with the order. If, after 3 days, an order has not been marked as Sent, you will receive a reminder by email, and if after one more day the order has still not been marked as Sent, the order will be cancelled, the customer will be refunded, and you will not be paid for the order even if you actually sent the ordered items. You must not mark an order as Sent unless it has already been sent or will be sent immediately on the same day. When you mark an order as Sent, the customer is notified by email that the order has been sent, and you are then responsible for delivery of the order to the customer. The email to the customer includes your contact details as provided in your sales account, and the customer is informed that they should contact you with any enquiries about delivery of the order. The customer's receipt includes instructions for the customer to return to Short Film Central and mark the order as Received. When the order is marked as Received, payment for the order is immediately released to your sales account. If the order has not been marked as Received after 28 days from the date it was marked as Sent, payment will be released to your sales account unless the customer has informed us that the order has not been received, in which case we will notify you that you have another 14 days to deliver the order to the customer. If the order has not been marked as Received after 42 days from when it was marked as Sent, payment will be released to your sales account unless the customer has informed us again that the order has not been received, in which case we will cancel the order and refund the customer.
Any payments released to your sales account will be remitted to your nominated payment account within 7 days after the end of each month. Our preferred payment method is PayPal as there are no fees involved for payments. If you do not yet have a PayPal account, it is free to sign up to PayPal, which is available in most countries. If you require payment by bank transfer or other methods which involve fees, we will only remit payment when the amount exceeds any transaction fees charged to us, and the transaction fees will be deducted from your payment amount. If you need to raise a purchase order or send us an invoice before payments to you, please let us know when adding your first product.
Sales activity and payment history can be viewed online at any time in the Sales section of your user menu, and the data can be downloaded in Excel format.
We offer a system for film owners to make their short films available to you directly from their film profiles. Prices are set by the individal vendors and you view prices in your preferred currency. The exchange rates used for converting currency values are updated at least once daily.
All products can be licensed for private/non-commercial use, for public/commercial use, or for library/lending use. Vendors may set different prices for each licence type. In your checkout, you must select the licence type which permits your intended usage of the products. See the Licensing short film products section below for details of each licence type.
You can order products from one or more vendors in one transaction. When you order products, each vendor is notified by email and asked to fulfil the order within 3 days. If, after 3 days, an order has not been marked as Sent, the vendor will receive a reminder by email, and if after one more day the order has still not been marked as Sent, the order will be cancelled and you will be refunded for that order. When an order is marked as Sent, you are notified by an email which includes the vendor's contact details. The vendor is responsible for delivery of the order to you and you should contact them with any enquiries about delivery of the order. When you receive an order, you are asked to return to Short Film Central and mark the order as Received, which releases payment to the vendor. An order will be automatically marked as Received 28 days after it was marked as Sent unless you have contacted us after 25 days to inform us that the order hasn't arrived or is incorrect, in which case we will notify the vendor that they have another 14 days to deliver the order to you. The order will then be automatically marked as Received 42 days after it was marked as Sent unless you have contacted us again after 39 days to inform us that you still have not received the correct order, in which case we will cancel the order and refund you for the full amount paid for that order.
Please order products carefully. We can only cancel orders which have not yet been marked as Sent by the vendor. If an order is cancelled, you will be refunded in full. After an order has been marked as Sent, you must contact the vendor directly with any enquiries about the order.
Vendors must ensure that the product details displayed on film profiles accurately describe the products actually sent to customers. If you have received a product which does not match the product description, you should contact the vendor, who is responsible for remedying the incorrect order. However please also contact us so that we can ask the vendor to correct their product description, or take action against non-compliant vendors.
All short film products are protected by copyright. Owners of copyright have exclusive rights to do certain things with their material. These rights include copying material and showing or playing material such as films, DVDs and videos in public.

Regardless of the licence, you may not broadcast, redistribute, transmit, upload, rent, hire, transfer, assign or sublicence the product or its contents, and you may not copy the product or its contents other than as a personal backup.
