Saving Mom and Dad

The character of Ravi is based on me when I was growing up in the US. The problems he faces in the film are the ones I dealt with: identity issues as a child of immigrants, desire to fit in with the majority, shame at being different, inability to stand up for himself and to formulate and defend his own point of view. We have all felt out of place and wanted to fit in – in one situation or another. My wish is that people of any background can find a connection with Ravi. I want to take people on his journey of self-discovery. Maybe it will help uncover something in them. I hope so.
