Walong Linggo

Eight Sundays

Synopsis
A young man who sits alone in a café every Sunday morning suddenly finds himself strangely falling in love with a girl he doesn’t know. As he tries to get to know her, he is hindered by insecurity and fear of rejection, thus, prolonging the much-awaited introduction.
Filmmaker Notes

Walong Linggo is my nostalgic take on romance and Filipino courtship. It's been said that the world is no longer a romantic place. Some of its people are, however. With the evolution of technology and new ways of courting or falling in love, some things will always remain the same. Poetry and music for me have always been the constant when it comes to falling in love. The awkwardness, the fear, the disappointment, etc. - these stages of love have been immortalized by poetry and music. Thus, I have attempted to capture them on film, without dialogue but using camera movement. It's the first time I ventured in this kind of story-telling - using handheld camera movement with all its rawness and uncertainty, supported by music and poetry - to capture what it is like when love strikes at the most inopportune moments.
