In Good Spirits
United States | 2014 | 11:33 | Fiction, Live Action
A family struggles living with a reckless spiritual entity that has bonded souls with the creepy eight-year old daughter of the house, Hannah. Richie, her moody, death metal loving teenage brother must deal with his parents' neglect as they focus all energy and attention on their haunted daughter. But during a typical Sunday outing, one paranormal incident pushes Richie too far and ultimately tests the limits of the family's trust and faith in one another.
In Good Spirits injects some much-needed comedy into the supernatural thriller subgenre. It’s essentially Paranormal Activity meets Little Miss Sunshine. While comedic on the surface, it is very much a heartwarming, character-driven story at its core. The film is an exploration of not only the concept of family through the most unusual of circumstances, but also the odd dynamic between misunderstood adolescent boys and the American nuclear family system. It also has some well-timed ghost jokes.
