Shame and Glasses

Mirko has to face his worst fear: wearing glasses. That is the only way to do his school test, but what would happen if the young girl he is secretly in love with could see him?

Film notes

Production History

At first this had to be a homemade short movie. But I wanted to prove myself I was able to direct a real set with a real crew, so I asked for help to Artwelve, a no-profit association, who became line producer of the short.
We tried to shoot it in just one day, because I didn’t have money enough money for a full shooting weekend, but we failed: a thunder-storm slowed down our work and we didn’t finished.
I didn’t give up: I thought my short was too beautiful to be abandoned, so I spent the following four months looking for money.
Hard work paid off. I found a co-producer (Tecnofilm), led to success a crowdfunding campaign and received a sponsorship by Safilo, a world leading company in the glasses industry.
So, after many months, with a very small budget, I managed to complete my first short as filmmaker!

Director's Note

I love this short because it tells a very simple story, an embarrassment that each of us has tried at least once in his lifetime.
The narration is based on images only, stressing the emotions.
The meaning is not transmitted through dialogue, but through the expressivity of the actors, because good movies should work even without any sound.
