Coffee and Pie

Couple June and October are breaking up. Manipulative June feels her moral superiority justifies the breakup. A "conduced" October learns from seasoned waitress Billy-Jean, that revenge is a dish best served with pie.

Andrew Stoneham’s Coffee & Pie script enchanted me with its moments of truth and humor in a difficult moment between two people. I found myself laughing at the comedy of the personalities laid bare and then wondering if I had permission to laugh during a moment like this. This challenge of preserving the uncomfortable comedy from script to screen was one of the most creatively appealing elements of the project.

The story is about discovering the patterns we fall into as people and, faced with that discovery, the decisions we make. It’s all well and good to “know yourself” but then, what are you going to do about it.
