Ode to Love
India | 2010 | 48:48 | Fiction, Live Action
Deep, a private tutor by profession, is in love with Anu, his student. Anu too loves Deep, her teacher. She does well in her undergraduate course and is going to sit for the school service examination. Deep is diagnosed with a disease. For treatment he comes to the city. Anu prepares herself for the exam. Deep succumbs into frustration as he comes to know his disease is incurable. He tries to dissociate Anu from their memories and hopes together. She is saddened by Deep’s behaviour. She, however, keeps her cool and tries to keep the chord of communication alive. Deep distances himself from Anu more and more. One evening he starts writing his last letter to her. As he goes to take sleeping pills to end his life, a child comes from nowhere and saves him. The moment Deep looks up to notice the child, he finds Anu at the doorstep. Many words remain unspoken and many feelings are yet to be shared but that’s how this Ode to Love begins at its very end.
He Prem (Ode to Love) is an eternal love story depicted in today’s Bengal. Love happens and flows on overshadowing death.
