Home Was the Sailor

An old sailor finds himself abandoned in the sea. Along comes a boat to his rescue. Wistfully, the sailor realizes that he is getting too old for the seafaring life, and decides to settle on land. He finds a farm for sale on a hill overlooking a seaside village. He buys the farm --in more ways than he first understands. He encounters a spirited horse in one of the stables and takes it for a run along the cliff path. They fly along together, but as soon as the horse sees the crashing surf, it transforms into a water-horse and plunges into the ocean with the hapless sailor clinging to its back. The horse rears and shakes off its rider and surges out into the open sea with the tide. The roiling waves are becalmed, the old sailor surfaces and finds himself abandoned in the sea. Along comes a boat.

Film notes
