Ante

How much is your life worth to you? Bids end in fifteen minutes, may the best man win, but then the other one isn't going to be around to complain about it.

Two ultra-competitive salesmen, the young, fast-talking Tom and the older, by-the-books Raymond are up for the same promotion. When ruthless contract killer Pierson comes on the scene it looks like Tom and Raymond have unwittingly hired the same hitman to take each other out. What is Pierson's solution? He makes them ‘sales pitch’ against each other for their lives.

Film notes

Ante is an ambitious short thriller, directed by up and coming director Chris Cronin, founder of Genesis Flux Productions. From a background in short films and live sports coverage, Cronin has financed, produced, directed and is editing the film himself. “After reading the script I knew this was something I just had to make,” Cronin explains.

With a cast of professional actors, David Edward-Robertson(Shameless, The Street), Greg Kelly(Hollyoaks, Waterloo Road), Steve McTigue(Cold Feet, Doctors), and a crew of industry professionals, all going the extra mile, the film has become something of a labour of love for everyone involved.

The majority of the production was filmed on site at the Durker Roods Hotel in West Yorkshire, whose staff cooperated with the long night time shoots. The film showcases the exciting Canon 7d cameras, putting it on the cutting edge technologically, coupled with atmospheric lighting and strategic use of stylish techniques like undercranking and overcranking, the film will be something of a visual feast.

The teaser, released recently, was almost immediately selected to be part of the Los Angeles Trailer Festival and was viewed by representatives of Paramount, Universal Studios, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, HBO, New Line and over a hundred other leading industry companies. “One actor has already got a role on TV as a result, and I’m hearing that the others are under consideration for parts,” Cronin explains.
