The Empress

Two strangers fall in love across a dingy bar and have an affair that exists only in their minds and shadows.

Film notes

The new stop motion animation film by Lyle Pisio, using puppets carved entirely from bass wood and pine, held together with small pieces of bicycle tire, fishing line and magnets. The Empress is a visual expression of the song by Montreal artist Briga. Its loneliness, desire, love, hesitation, miss-communication, fear and loss with a touch of alcoholism for comic relief.
