We cater to the true independent films, we don't screen films with million dollar budgets - we screen the real indies.
We strive to do as much as we can to help filmmakers and encourage filmmakers to talk to us and help make our festival as good as it can be.
In addition to helping filmmakers, we donate a portion of our revenue to a children for the arts charity: FreeArtsNYC
We only screen films in a proper screening room, we have heard horror stories (no pun intended) of supposed "film festivals" screening in conference rooms with a tv on a wheel cart, or other disgraceful situation. Our rule: if you can touch the top of the screen without a ladder, it's just wrong. We only select real screening rooms with proper projection and sound.
Lastly, we are still a smaller festival. And we like it that way. We receive fewer entries and therefore have a higher acceptance rate. We wish we could screen them all, but at least we can screen more than other festivals.
