Festival Internazionale del Film Locarno
Locarno International Film Festival
Throughout its 60 year history, the Locarno International Film Festival has occupied a unique position in the landscape of the major film festivals. Every August, around 190,000 cinema-goers, over 1,100 journalists, and 3,700 professionals converge on the small Swiss-Italian town of Locarno, right in the heart of Europe, which becomes the world capital of auteur cinema for eleven days.

The “Leopards of Tomorrow” is a competitive section reserved for short and mid-length fiction films (on 35mm, 16mm, or “standard” and “high definition” video, to a maximum length of 40 minutes) by young filmmakers who have not yet made feature films: student and graduation films, and the first cinematic ventures from new talents.
Priority is given to films that have not yet participated in other international film events.
