BIAF is organised by Odyssey Creative Productions Assoc Inc a non-profit arts club dedicated to supporting and showcasing artists. The festival is dedicated to providing a forum for the screening and appreciation of high-quality cartoons and animated films from all over the world to the attention of an adult audience and the animation industry in Queensland. BIAF is the only event of its kind in Australia that actively participates in the celebration of ASIFA's International Animation Day.
The Brisbane International Animation Festival International Competition aims to foster new and emerging talent and to celebrate the work of practising animators from around the world. Categories include JURY Award, STUDENT Award, QUEENSLAND ANIMATION Award and PEOPLE'S CHOICE Award.
